Proud Industrial Heritage.

Nelson has a proud industrial heritage having been at the forefront of the growth of the textile industry during the industrial revolution.

The town is now home to a number of advanced manufacturing and precision engineering companies, making products for a range of sectors including aerospace, automotive, nuclear, healthcare, etc.


Top Performing College.

Nelson has one of the best performing colleges in the country. Nelson and Colne College is the number one FE College in the country for A levels.

It also offers a wide range of apprenticeships and Higher Education courses; improving the skills and prospects of young people and adults across the town.


Beautiful Countryside.

Nelson is surrounding by beautiful countryside and is just a few minutes drive from Pendle Hill and the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Nelson supports three picturesque parks Walverden Park, Victoria Park and Marsden Park which are a real asset to the town and its residents.

Leeds - Liverpool Canal.

Another legacy of its past, the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, runs through the heart of the town. The canal provides leisure opportunities and great sustainable transport links to destinations within Nelson and beyond.

Pendle Wavelengths.

Pendle Wavelengths offers indoor leisure opportunities in the form of a state of the art gym, swimming pool and spa facilities; complemented by the county standard athletics track at Seedhill.

Arts & Culture
ACE Centre.

Located in the town centre, the Arts Culture and Enterprise Centre is a purpose built arts, culture and enterprise venue. It is home to a host of activities and facilities, including a performance theatre, cinema, function rooms and bistro. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Centre is currently closed.

Strong Build Heritage.

The town has a strong built heritage, particularly in and around the town centre, with some beautiful buildings, including the Town Hall and Grade II listed old Library, reflecting the towns history.

Growing Communities.

Nelson is home to a diverse community with a large white and Asian population and a growing Eastern European community. This diversity is reflected in the food and retail offer amongst the large number of independent retailers in the town centre.
